Our aim, as a high quality independent optical Practice, is to deliver the best standard of eye care and eyewear to all our patients in a friendly, professional environment. We do not just do 'sight tests'. In our well-equipped consulting rooms we conduct the eye examination appropriate for you. We pride ourselves on taking the time to understand your needs in detail and carefully explain why certain tests are necessary.
This is why our standard eye examination appointment time is 40 minutes. This approach ensures we always carry out a thorough investigation of your vision, assess your eye co-ordination, examine your eyes for possible health problems, and offer advice on any specific occupational or recreational needs. We offer extensions to a standard eye examination to include special screening or investigations for common eye conditions such as Glaucoma, Macular Degeneration and Retinal Detachment.
These investigations are offered using the most up to date technology such as the 'Optomap Retinal Examination' and Ocular Coherence Tomographer (OCT).

What is glaucoma?
There are various types of glaucoma but primary open angle glaucoma (POAG), also known as chronic glaucoma, is the most common.
It has no symptoms in the early stages, but slowly and painlessly destroys sight if it is not detected and treated.
The loss of vision cannot be reversed.
It mainly affects middle aged and elderly people, although it can develop in younger people.
The earlier glaucoma is detected, the more successful the treatment.
Glaucoma initially destroys the off centre vision, leaving the central detailed vision unaffected until a later stage.

The Optomap Retinal Examination is the only technology that lets your optometrist view nearly the entire surface of the back of the eye with ultra high resolution in one image.
This technology makes obsolete the standard retinal photograph as it allows the optometrist to see an area 50 times larger with higher resolution.
The images are taken quickly and painlessly with low powered laser scans and they can be viewed immediately.
These images allow sight-threatening problems, such as retinal detachment and retinal tumours to be picked up much earlier than with standard examination techniques.

The results of an excellent eye examination can so often be let down by a poorly dispensed pair of spectacles.
Like most things that appear simple, there is a lot more to making the perfect pair of spectacles than meets the eye!
At Euin Steele & Partners your spectacle prescription will be assessed by our fully qualified Dispensing Optician or Optometrists.
Because the range of frame and lens options is seemingly endless, our staff work with you to ensure you get the very best spectacles to suit not just your face but your budget too.

Dry eye is the loss or reduction of the eye's ability to produce normal tears.
It is one of the most frequent causes of visits to optometrists.
A variety of factors may cause or contribute to this problem some are age-related, some are related to the environment.
It is a common and treatable condition.
Dry eye can come from a number of causes, both physical and environmental.
One common cause is when tears glands slow down tear production - a normal occurrence that happens with age, especially in women going through menopause.
