The process of an eye test is simple and thorough. We recommend you have your eyes checked by a specialist at least every 2 years, or more frequently if recommended by your optician. Diabetes can lead to a condition called Diabetic Retinopathy as well as other eye conditions. Regular eye tests can help to spot the early signs of this condition and enable you to take action to control diabetes before it damages your body and your eyes.

Scottish residents aged between 16 and 60 can have an NHS funded eye examination every two years.
