Iris Blue Optical
We are delighted to be one of a small handful of practices accredited to supply MiyoSmart lenses- specifically designed to reduce progression of short-sight in children. We are so pleased to have been nominated for and chosen as a finalist in The Scottish Independent Retail Awards for 2020. To be recognised in this way is simply amazing and gratifying for all of us behind Iris Blue Optical.

All eye appointments are now available, although things may still look a little different. Morven Campbell, Optician, welcomes you to her new practice at Broomhill Cross, in Glasgow's West End. Morven and Evelyn at Iris Blue Optical look forward to serving the residents from Broomhill to Milngavie, and everywhere in-between, with all your eye care needs.

With our Enhanced Eye Exams, bespoke range of glasses and frames, high quality lenses and a wide range of Contact Lens options, we hope to become your local Independent go-to optical boutique. Would you like to join us as a new patient? Please send us a message and we will happily sign you up for your next eye care appointment.
Services
An eye examination at Iris Blue Optical goes further and does more than a standard NHS eye test.
We scan through your retina with amazing 3D OCT imaging and take stunning ultra-widefield images of your retina with Optomap.
These scans are not readily available but as your local independent optician we take pride in ensuring our patients receive excellence in clinical care.
These additional scans allow us to see more and ultimately protect your eyes and health.
Standard NHS examinations are free to all ordinary residents, our enhanced scanning is available either for a small additional charge or included as one of many benefits when you join iRewards, The Iris Blue Health & Rewards Plan.
Here in Scotland everyone is entitled to a free standard NHS Eye Examination, at set intervals depending on your age and health status.
The Enhanced Eye Examination available at Iris Blue Optical goes much further - we offer advanced scans and images that give us an excellent baseline for your eye health.
These advanced scans can help us identify any issues earlier, when they can be more easily rectified.
You can choose to upgrade your examination at the time or join our loyalty program, iRewards, which entitles you to as many scans as are needed for you, plus many additional benefits.
Myopia, or short-sightedness, is caused by the eye being slightly longer than necessary, we use glasses or contact lenses to correct the focus and ensure clear vision.
Typically we become myopic whilst we are growing- either as a teenager or a child.
Myopic adults will recognise the pattern of needing stronger glasses regularly throughout their growing years.
Studies show that myopia is increasing worldwide and each generation is getting more myopic than their parents.
Being myopic carries a significant increase in risk of many eye conditions- glaucoma, macular degeneration, retinal detachment to name a few.
I am an Optometrist and Dispensing Optician with over 25 years of experience looking after my patients and their families.
As an owner of Iris Blue Optical, it is my personal mission to ensure that the clinical care you receive is of the highest quality, whatever your needs.
Throughout my career in the wider Glasgow area, I have diagnosed, supported and managed a wide variety of patients with numerous complex eye conditions.
As technology in optometry has developed over the years, in order to support my patients, I have always been an early adopter of advanced scanning.
The Optomap ultra-widefield retinal scanner is a unique technology, invented and based in Scotland, that captures more than 80% of your retina in a single image.
A standard retinal photograph typically only shows 15% of your retina at one time.
Early detection means successful treatments can be administered, reducing the risk to your sight and health.
Check out this video as to why our optician recommends Optomap.
Your retina (located in the back of your eye) is the only place in the body where blood vessels can be seen directly.
