The appearance, comfort and feel of new spectacles depend as much on the lenses you choose as the style of the frame.
It is important to select frames which will suit your face and complement the lenses you need.
Today's spectacles utilise the latest manufacturing technologies to best advantage to produce a wide selection of frame materials and lenses.
For example, titanium is particularly popular for frames because it is extremely lightweight, very durable and strong.

At Aves Optometrists, we have been fitting contact lenses for over 30 years, and have the experience in fitting a wide variety of lenses from the modern daily or Silicone Hydrogel lenses to the more complex and traditional gas permeable lenses.
We have access, through our suppliers, to a wide variety of lenses, enabling us to impartially select the lenses most suitable for each patient's individual visual requirement.
We treat each patient on an individual basis, and before any contact lens fitting we will carry out a full eye examination, enabling us to carry out a full assessment as to the health of your eyes and will enable us to discuss your suitability for contact lens wear.

Adult eye examinations take approximately 40 minutes and cost 55 which includes an Optomap Imaging.
The NHS does not cover this modern technique but we are able to offer it for 20.
When you attend your eye examination you will be taken to a room full of equipment.
To the first-timer this can be daunting, but there really is nothing to worry about.
The equipment used is safe and does not cause any pain, although there may be mild discomfort when your Optometrist uses very bright lights.
Think of it as a room full of special cameras and magnifying glasses that the Optometrists will use to take a good close up look of your eyes.

Our optometrists recommend that all children have Optomap Imaging done as part of their eye examinations.
Eye examinations for ages 13 and under take approximately 20 minutes and children 14 or older take approximately 40 minutes.
We recommend that all children have their eyes tested before they start school, however they do not need to know how to read to have their eyes tested, we can use pictures and cartoon characters to keep them engaged and see if spectacles are required.
