Services
If you're looking for an independent optician in Epping that offers an expert and attentive service you're on the right page.
Here at Richard Pryor Opticians, we understand the importance our clients attach to having the right prescription and correctly-fitting frames or lenses that completely meet their eyesight needs, whatever stage of life they have reached.
A key part of our approach is to get to know more about what you want from glasses and lenses and to interpret this into a prescription that works for your lifestyle.
A routine eye check with an optometrist determines whether or not you require spectacles or contact lenses to improve your vision.
If you do, regular check-ups ensure that you are getting the best possible vision at all times.
Regular eye checks are also an important part of your general health care routine.
You should have your eyes checked at least once every two years even if you have no problems with your vision and don't need glasses.
It is rare for eye conditions to cause pain and sometimes the changes to your sight can be very difficult to notice.
OCT stands for Ocular Coherence Tomography which is an advanced technology eye scan for people of all ages.
It uses light to see the different layers that make up the back of your eye in detail.
This allows our Optometrist to spot any signs of disease and potential eye health concerns at an early stage.
OCT can help with the identification and diagnosis of: Macular Degeneration, Glaucoma, Diabetic Retinopathy, Macular Holes, Optic Nerve Disease, Retinal Tears, Vitreous Detachment and Floaters.
Your scan images and results will be recorded for you on your patient file so that, upon your next appointment, we can see if anything has changed.
Whether you wear contact lenses everyday or for occasional use, we can find the perfect match for you.
If you ever wear contact lenses, regular check-ups are extra important.
Your contact lenses should always feel comfortable and you should enjoy clear vision at all times.
It's important to make sure you have up-to-date specs that you like too, you never know when you'll need to wear them!
Richard Pryor Opticians specialises in fitting all sorts of contact lenses and is proactive in promoting contact lens wear in accordance with best clinical practice.
We recommend regular eye exams from the age of at 4 years old, if not sooner.
If you have any concerns before this, please do make and appointment as we can test eyes from as young as 12 months.
Regular eye exams as your child grows, helps us keep a close eye on the development of their vision as well as monitoring their eye health to identify any concerns as early as possible.
By catching any concerns earlier, any treatment required is likely to be more successful.
Problems with vision can mean difficulty seeing the board or reading at school, which can quickly develop into boredom, disruptive behaviour and even a lack of interest in education altogether.
