Revolution Eyecare Opticians
Revolution Eyecare Opticians has been established in Farnworth, Bolton since 2006. Our philosophy is to provide a top class service and exceptional products, making your vision and satisfaction our priority. At Revolution Eyecare you will receive a warm welcome and we will do our utmost to make your visit as positive as possible. Regular eye examinations are essential to maintain clear and comfortable vision and they also offer insight into your general health.

Conditions such as high blood pressure and diabetes can often be detected at an eye examination. Various eye conditions may also be detected, in some cases before they even begin to affect your sight. Some patients are entitled to a free NHS eye examination and we are registered to provide NHS services. Please visit our section on NHS entitlement to find out if you qualify for an NHS eye examination and possibly an NHS optical voucher, should any spectacles be required.

Please also take a few moments to explore the rest of our site and trust our experience to help you find the ideal solution to all your eye care needs.
Services
Having graduated from UMIST (University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology) in 2001 with a first class masters degree in optometry, and having completed a clinical post at Newcastle Royal Victoria Infirmary, our resident optometrist and owner Andrew began working for a large multiple chain optician practice in the centre of Bolton.
Eventually he decided to become a locum optometrist and work for different opticians to gain knowledge and experience of how various practices operated.
It is recommended that most adults have their eyes examined at least once every 2 years.
In some cases more frequent exams may be advised.
An eye examination isn't just about testing if glasses are required, many health conditions affecting both general and ocular health can be detected during an eye examination.
Certain conditions such as diabetes can affect the eye and regular exams allow monitoring for ocular changes.
For many children eye examinations are recommended every year.
Sometimes a basic screening is provided at school, but a more comprehensive assessment is provided by visiting an opticians.
At Revolution Eyecare Opticians we are fully registered and more than happy to see eligible NHS patients.
All the relevant paperwork will be completed at the time of your eye examination.
If you are also eligible for an NHS optical voucher it will issued by the optometrist after the eye examination has been completed.
The information below has been taken from the NHS choices website and details eligibility for NHS funded eye examinations and optical vouchers.
People named on an NHS certificate for partial help with health costs (HC3) may also get help.
At Revolution Eyecare Opticians we are proud to offer the availability of a fully comprehensive eye examination in the comfort of your own home.
We can see both NHS patients and private patients.
To be eligible for a domiciliary NHS eye examination you must satisfy one of the criteria for an NHS eye examination (see here) and be unable to attend a practice unaccompanied (for reasons of physical or mental ill health or disability).
If you are interested in arranging a home visit for yourself or someone you know, please give us a call or use our contact page.
We can accommodate patients who wish to attend outside of our normal opening hours.
To reserve an out of hours appointment we require a 30 deposit that will be refunded after deduction of any costs incurred at the appointment, or forfeit should you fail to attend the appointment.
We are located on Higher Market Street next door to where Swinton Insurance used to be, which is now called "The Computer Shop".
Many locals will know the location used to be Bowden's Chemist.
Opposite is the Blue Cafe and Ye Old Three Crowns pub, also known locally as "Smokey's".
