The outstanding ethos of Liage Opticians is to give value for money and first class service. We also believe in choice and that's why we have over 1,500 frames to choose from. We also cater for all tastes, not just current trends. We like to think if we don't stock a particular style we know exactly where to get it from. We are open for all services, but access to the premises is by appointment only in order to maintain social distancing.
We are offering all eye health services, including sight tests, contact lens checks, and minor eye condition services (MECS). We are also offering spectacle dispensing (purchases), repairs, and adjustments. NHS tests are usually available for people 60 or over, diabetics, people over 40 with glaucoma in the immediate family, receiving benefits, or children under 17 (under 19 if in full time education).
We are currently closed on Saturdays. You can phone our usual number (01746 768 544) to make a sight test appointment, contact lens check appointment, dispensing appointment (if you already have a current prescription), or repair / adjustment appointment.

With over fifteen hundred frames to choose from we are confident we can find that particular style you're looking for.
But if we haven't got it in stock, we can usually source it.
Why do we stock so many frames?
Because we like to give you a vast choice, with numerous designer brands in the mix.
However, we pride ourselves in finding styles that are different enough to stand out from the crowd.
We also stock a large range of budget frames that have proven to be very good quality for their prices.

There are a bewildering array of lens options available for the spectacle wearer, all of which are designed for specific prescriptions, frames or occupational use.
At Liage we check the lens designs of numerous manufacturers to ascertain if they are both good and value for money.
Examples of lens options are Multi Anti Reflection (MAR) coatings, Photochromic lenses, Bifocal lenses, Varifocal lenses and High Index lenses.
MAR coatings are designed to reduce reflection on both surfaces of the lens, making it clearer to look through with enhanced contrast.

Rigid lenses generally give good eyesight correction and are considered the most 'healthy' for your eyes.
However, they are considered the least comfortable as you have to 'build up' your wearing time.
This is due to the eyelid margins initially feeling some irritation during blinking and need to be desensitized.
Once you have built up your wearing time they feel comfortable, but you have to maintain it by wearing the lenses regularly.
Lens purchase varies according to make and model between 140 and 300.
