Find out why regular eye tests are important and how a healthy lifestyle can help you maintain good vision.
Having an eye test won't just tell you if you need new glasses or a change of prescription, it's also an important eye health check.
It can spot many general health problems and early signs of eye conditions before you're aware of any symptoms - many of which can be treated if found early enough.
Optometrists recommend that everyone has an eye test about every two years.
People over 40 and people with certain health conditions may need sight tests more frequently.

Do your eyes often feel dry or irritated?
Do tasks like reading and working on the computer make your eyes feel gritty and scratchy?
If so you may have a common condition called DRY EYE SYNDROME.
The good news is that it can be relatively easy to treat, and you don't have to live with it.
It occurs when your tear flow is reduced or evaporates, causing the very sensitive front surface of your eye to dry out.
Dry eyes can lead to reduced performance in reading, driving especially at night, working with a computer and watching TV.

Short-sightedness is a common eye condition that causes distant objects to appear blurred, while close objects can be seen clearly.
The symptoms of short-sightedness often start around puberty and gradually get worse until the eye is fully grown.
If distant objects appear fuzzy to you or if your child is finding it difficult to see things in the distance, such as the blackboard at school, you should make an appointment for a sight test.
Long-sightedness, also known as hyperopia, affects a person's ability to see objects close to them.
