We're proud to stock excellent quality designer frames, including some you won't find anywhere else in the area. The lenses in your glasses should be customised to your requirements, and as an independent optician we can make that happen. We're dedicated to looking after your eye health, and can provide additional services to test for and treat a variety of eye conditions.
It's essential that children attend regular eye exams from a young age, or you could be putting both their education and their vision at risk. Hi - my name is Arif Ali, and I'm not only the owner of Oracle Opticians, but the main person you'll be dealing with throughout your time with us in practice. I'll be responsible for testing your eyes and ensuring you leave with the perfect eyewear for you - should you need it - and that's the way I like it.
I qualified in 2005 from Bradford University, and since then I have made a determined effort to gain experience across all sectors of optics so that I can recreate the best ideas in Oracle Opticians today.

Services
Oracle Opticians was first established in 1980 by Michael Leaver, who was also involved with the Bradford and Airedale diabetic retinal screening service.
In 2008, our current owner Arif joined the service.
Michael and Arif worked so well together that when Michael retired in 2013, he asked Arif to take over the running of Oracle Opticians.
The practice has been open for over 35 years.
We are proud to have built up genuine, long-lasting relationships with our current loyal patients, many of whom have been visiting us for years.

When it comes to your eye examination, you might think that the main purpose of this is to test how well you can see.
While this is undoubtedly a major part of the assessment, your exam also allows us to fully check your eye health and ensure there are no early signs of any problems.
During your eye test, you will be asked to complete a number of exercises.
These will include some you might already be familiar with, such as reading different sized letters off a chart or screen on the wall, and testing different lenses to see if they make text harder or easier to read.

You know that it's important to keep your little one healthy throughout their childhood.
From making sure they have their infancy vaccinations to marking their height on the wall every birthday, you will naturally do everything you can to ensure they are happy and developing as they should.
Despite popular belief, children don't have to be able to read in order to have their first eye test - we can test children as young as one year old using a combination of shapes and pictures to track their eye movement.

In much the same way as you might have short term (sunburn) and long term (risk of skin cancer) effects of sun exposure to your skin, there are also similar impacts on your eyes.
In the short term, you can develop a condition known as photokeratitis.
This is a form of sunburn for your eyes, causing redness, irritation and a feeling of grittiness in the eyes.
Fortunately it is normally temporary, but can be very painful while it lasts.
In the longer term, continually exposing your eyes to intense sunlight without protection increases your risk of developing conditions like macular degeneration and cataracts.
