Hello, I'm Cheryl Bridle the owner and optometrist of Bridle EyeCare.
I qualified as an optometrist in 19XX (ie - a long time ago!) and spent the first 15 years in the Tilehurst branch of Russell Caulton Opticians.
After that I spent a number of years as a locum optometrist primarily with Independent Opticians.
Eventually I decided that the only way to be free to practice Optometry to a standard with which I was happy and to work with up to date equipment that would enable me to do the best possible job was to open a Practice of my own.

Summer and winter alike it gives us a feel good factor to see the sun.
But as we know from all the health warnings over doing the UV comes with its own problems.
Too much on our skin results in sunburn which both ages the skin and increases the risk of skin cancer.
Similarly, too much UV entering our eyes accelerates damage to the most precious part of our eyes - the MACULA and with a damaged macula you wouldn't be able to read text, drive a car, recognise people or watch TV.
Okay, so just grab the darkest lenses in the coolest frame you can find and all will be well - right? - Wrong! Wearing sunglasses that don't have a UV protection certificate actually results in more damage to the eye than not wearing any sunglasses at all.
